Suggest or Recommend a Ranch, Dairy, Farm or Egg Producer to be Added
Customers: Add / Suggest a Ranch, Dairy, Farm or Egg Producer to be Added to the Website!
There are always beekeepers I just haven't heard
about. I've tried to make the form as easy and brief as possible! If you know
of a Ranch, Dairy, Farm or Egg Producer that you think should be added to
www.LocalMeatMilkEggs.org (or the related websites), please tell me
what you know about it here!
If you want to comment or provide feedback about a farm that is ALREADY
listed on the website, please use the Feedback form
instead.
Beekeepers, farmers and Farm Employees: STOP! If you are the owner or employee
of the apiary, farm, market, orchard, event etc, or you have
very detailed information about the farm, STOP! DO NOT use this form - this is for
general visitors
and customers. Owners, Employees, Farmers, please use our detailed Add-My-Farm submission page
Customers: just tell me what you know
about the farm here, and I'll try to find them! Anything you can tell me is
helpful!
To REPEAT:
If you are the farm's owner, employee or you have very detailed information
about the farm, DO NOT use this form -
This formis intended for visitors and customers. Farmers, please use our
more detailed Add-My-Farm submission page
The form above adds recommended farms and markets to the
following websites:
(Many of these websites are presently being developed, so your suggestions
and recommended farms are appreciated!)
Definitions:
Grain-fed Beef
• Grain-fed beef is the most widely produced kind of beef by the
approximately 800,000 beef producers across the United States.
• Grain-fed cattle spend most of their lives eating grass in
pastures, they then move on to a feedlot where to they eat a high-energy
grain diet for three to six months.
Grass-finished Beef
• All beef that is grass-fed as cattle spend the majority of their
lives eating grass in pastures. However, grass-finished beef comes from
cattle that have been raised solely on pasture their entire lives.
• Grass-finished cattle may be entered into the Certified Organic
Program and must adhere to the same guidelines. However, grass-finished
beef is not necessarily Certified Organic Beef as these cattle may be
given FDA-approved antibiotics and/or growth promotants.
According to USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS),
"natural" may be used on a label for meat if:
the product does not contain any artificial flavor or
flavoring, coloring ingredient, or chemical preservative or any
other artificial or synthetic ingredient; and
the product and its ingredients are not more than
minimally processed (FSIS Directive 7220.1 Policy Memo 55 "Natural
Claims").
The definition of "natural" does not consider the way in which
animals were raised and or what they were fed so natural beef can be
grain-fed, grass-finished or organic as long as it's minimally
processed and contains no additives.
Some beef products may be labeled "natural" based on a
marketer's production specifications, such as "raised without growth
promotants and antibiotics."
Home Canning Kits
This is the same type of standard canner that my grandmother used to make everything from applesauce to jams and jellies to tomato and spaghetti sauce. This complete kit includes everything you need and lasts for years: the canner, jar rack, jar grabber tongs, lid lifting wand, a plastic funnel, labels, bubble freer, and the bible of canning, the Ball Blue Book. It's much cheaper than buying the items separately. You'll never need anything else except jars & lids (and the jars are reusable)! There is also a simple kit with just the canner and rack, and a pressure canner, if you want to do vegetables (other than tomatoes).
